The Eco Six Pack Ring (E6PR™)

We can all agree that marine wildlife getting tangled in (or gobbling up) plastic six pack rings is a goddamn nightmare. This compostable alternative degrades in mere days or weeks. If an E6PR™ does somehow make its way into the ocean and a turtle/whale/Kraken mistakes it for lunch, the critter won’t be harmed. Craft breweries have jumped on board, including the aptly named SaltWater Brewery in Florida. @e6prs; e6pr.com

Bottle vases by Foekje Fleur

After Dutch designer Foekje Fleur van Duin learned about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch—a soupy vortex of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean that’s mostly plastic—she started collecting plastic bottles that littered a local river. She then made replicas of the trash in porcelain. The result? Functional pieces of art with an important message about plastic waste. The vases are even shipped without any plastic! @foekjefleur; foekjefleur.com

Foldable Oru Kayaks

These origami-inspired kayaks fold up into a carry case so you can take them (and store them) anywhere. Pictured is the Beach LT, which can be assembled in as little as five minutes and weighs just 26 pounds … while being able to carry 300 pounds across the waves! When you’re done your paddle, it folds up to resemble a large-ish suitcase and slips easily into your trunk. Genius. @orukayak; orukayak.com

Alaffia Shea Body Wash – Lavender

This gem of a wash is made of ethically traded shea butter, coconut oil and neem extract with a splash of lavender oil. Alaffia creates small batches of its products in Olympia, Washington, using glass packaging as much as possible (and easily recyclable types of plastic when necessary). The company also follows sustainable practices in its cooperatives in West Africa, where it sources raw ingredients. @alaffia; alaffia.com

“Horizon” Combo Mat by Yoga Design Lab

Who doesn’t want to dive into downward dog when it feels like plunging into the sea? Not only is this a yoga mat with a view, but it also allows you to ditch your smelly yoga towel. Designed to act as a mat and towel, it’s made of recycled plastic bottles and natural tree rubber. And the image of the ocean is applied using water-based ink! @yogadesignlab; yogadesignlab.com
